Meet Our Staff
Summer Houghton Summer was born and raised in Cheyenne. She feels a very strong attachment to the state of Wyoming since her family has farmed and ranched here for over 118 years. Growing up, Summer was involved in various sports, dancing, 4-H, and was a Cheyenne Frontier Days Dandy for 3 years. Summer graduated from Cheyenne East High in 1994 and subsequently attended LCCC for a year. During that time, she began working at Broadmoor East Boarding and Grooming and became the assistant manager. In 1999, she began working at Broadmoor East Veterinary Clinic to train to become a Veterinary Technician. She is given a lot of responsibility as a technician including monitoring patients under anesthesia, assisting in dental treatments, obtaining and processing radiographs, drawing blood for laboratory analysis, placing IV catheters, and providing assistance for after-hours emergencies. Summer is also a consultant for Pfizer Animal Health, teaching other clinics in the tri-state region how to perform responsible anesthesia, pain management, and sedation. Summer understands that blood pressure monitoring and pain management should be a top priority for all veterinary clinics.
